New Year, New Book

While I technically began writing this book in December of 2013 (and started thinking about in in 2009 or so...) the bulk of the writing will happen in 2014 (with a projected finish date of August 20th). Last year was a transitive year for me, and 2014 looks to be no different. I will most likely begin my first career oriented job at the fresh young age of 33. The difference between career oriented and non-career oriented is simple. Any job that gives me health care benefits is the former.

Here's 2013 in a nutshell:

1. Had a successful year in my apartment. My roommate and I have made small upgrades such as purchasing a silverware tray (the knifes forks and spoons had previously been splayed out on a paper plate in a drawer), and putting photographs on the walls (taken by his lovely and talented girlfriend) (I omit their names because their awesomeness could inspire the masses of readers of my blog--pause for laughs--to bother them, but I will say that the blog links on the left hand side of my page might lead you to some pretty cool sites of some pretty cool people)...where was I? Oh yes, silverware tray. I also bought a new bookshelf (I have two in my room and they are now the dominant pieces of furniture, its very librarian in its feng shui)

2. I fired a gun at  gun range. The day after Christmas 2013 will always be remembered as the day I shot three perfect rounds through a small bullseye in a paper target at 400 yards. LIE! It was an interesting experience with family and friends. I fired the least amount of rounds of anyone, and I left for McDonalds to get some coffee and then read a book. Guns aren't for me, unless its a FPS. Who is nerdy enough to get that one?

3. I entered the "I have TMJ and needs to sleep with a plastic mouth piece at night" phase of my life, and I must say that it is everything its cracked up to be. First, the plastic thing does NOT taste like a hot glue gun smells, at all. I definitely DO NOT wake up feeling like I slept with a melted toy gun in my mouth. Second, if I talk while wearing it, I lisp. BUT, the sound made with the letters s and h sound amazing. Its like that old disney character from Lady and the Tramp with the whistle in his words ( I think it was a beaver or a mole or something like that...something small and brown). The SH- sound is just a lot of fun. Sh-ometime-sh I can't sh-top sh-aying sh-tuff like thi-sh. Sh-uper kewl.

4. I started my credential program. I'd write more, but I'm only half way done, and who knows what will happen and where I'll end up when June rolls around.

5. Christmas 2013: I saw more family in a short space of time than ever in my life (or at least since I was a little kid). I saw aunts, uncles, brother, sister, mom, dad, cousins, parent's cousins, great aunts second cousin's and I just feel so happy and fortunate to have these great people in my life, even when its often at the periphery, even when I see some of them once every decade.

One love. Happy New Year.
